My Privacy and Me
National Video Competition 2009
A big thanks for the awesome participation in our 2009 contest!
This year's contest was a huge success - we received over 100 submissions from all across Canada!
Because of the growing popularity of the contest, we have decided to present awards in four different categories. The categories this year are: live action; animation; French video; and junior (for entrants who are between 12 and 14 years of age).
Once again, we will be hosting an event with the students at Encounters with Canada to pick the winners. This event will be happening in early March. More participation also means more prizes - there will be first-, second- and third-place prizes in each category!
Thanks to all the young people who participated and to all the teachers who encouraged their students to participate and who provided them with the support they needed to create awesome videos.
Plan ahead - if you are interested in participating in the contest, and have something to say about personal privacy, we will be launching our 2010 contest in the spring!
Stay tuned - in the following weeks we will post the winning videos, from each category, from our 2009 contest. And you can still watch the 2008 finalist and winning contest videos here:

A big thank you also to the students from the Encounters with Canada program! On February 10th, 2009, some of these students, from schools all across Canada, viewed our seven final videos and chose our winners. All the final videos are featured on this site and on our YouTube channel. The winning artist received an iPod Touch and a $100 gift card; the second place winners each received a $250 gift card; and the third place winner received a $150 gift card.
Congratulations also to Carol Shaw of Woodstock Collegiate Institute for submitting the most entries. She won Adobe Creative Suite, one of the best software design packages available. Michelle Brady of John F. Ross CVI in Guelph, Ontario; Toby Rosenbloom of Glebe Collegiate in Ottawa, Ontario; and Majed Mattar of Canterbury High School in Ottawa, Ontario all received Adobe software as well, for submitting multiple entries.
Thanks again to all the participants of our first national video competition!
